Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers Biennial Conference 2022
Engineers for Change Sierra Leone (EfCSL) participated in person and virtually at the recent Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers (SLIE) Biennial Conference 2022. The charity was also a sponsor of the event.
The conference took place at the New Brookfields Hotel, Jomo Kenyatta Road, Freetown, from 28 June to 1 July 2022. The theme of the Conference was “The impact of the covid-19 pandemic on engineering practices”, and some of the subthemes were:
- COVID-19 and The Built Environment and smart cities
- COVID-19 and Engineering education and technology
- COVID-19 and Innovative methods in Project Collaboration
- COVID-19 and emerging technologies
- COVID-19 and the way forward
EfCSL presented on the following topics, and a link to the presentations can be found below:
- An overview of EfCSL and its achievements in the past 10yrs by Modupe Williams
- Whose responsibility is CPD by Rowland Gordon
- Routes to international professional registration by Owen Davies
- Employment and Development of Engineering Professional at WSP by Sammy Spaine and Esther Kamara, an Engineering graduate from the University of Sierra Leone
- Drawing on the experience of the RAE funded InRUE Project in training the next generation of engineers by Modupe Williams and Mariama Whitmore
