Fundraising Walk 2025
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, in an inspiring show of solidarity and purpose, Engineers for Change Sierra Leone (EfCSL) took part in two fundraising walks, with one held in London, UK and the other in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
In London, UK, the Engineers for Change Sierra Leone (EfCSL) partnered with Fourah Bay College Alumni Association-UK (FBCAAUK) and successfully organised a Fundraising Walk which took place from Putney Bridge Station to Tower Bridge.
FBCAAUK were fundraising to support a project to install solar power to the University of Sierra Leone’s Library building to ensure there is a continuous power supply. EfCSL plans to use its proportion of funds raised to support STEM education in schools and develop engineers and other members of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers with their Continuous Professional Development through online webinars and other training opportunities.
There was good participation, and the representatives of the two charities walked the 25km journey, crossing 16 of London’s historic bridges.
On the same In Freetown, the Engineers for Change Sierra Leone (EfCSL) partnered with the Old Prince Waleans Association (OPWA) to host a Fundraising Walk aimed at supporting mentorship for young engineers and enhancing STEM education at the Prince of Wales Secondary School. The event, which brought together engineering professionals and alumni, served as a powerful reminder of the role collaboration plays in sharing effort to achieve different but complementary goals.
In Freetown, Sierra Leone, funds raised from the walk will go directly towards two key initiatives:
- Engineers for Change Sierra Leone – Provide mentoring support for young engineers and also towards EfCSL Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Webinars.
- The Old Prince Waleans Association – Support STEM education at the Prince of Wales School.
The walk, which took place on 12th April 2025, kicked off at Inqaba-Hamilton village to Mambo waterfall and back, covering a scenic route that was filled with conversation, connections, and a collective commitment to building a stronger engineering pipeline in Sierra Leone.
